The last true
Texas dancehall.

Live country music five nights a week for anyone who wants the real Texas, the kind you two-step to. Since 1964, one low ceiling, one wood floor, zero pretending.

One roof, three reasons

Dinner. Dancing.
The real deal.

Not a theme bar. Not a replica. The same dancehall that has hosted country legends for six decades, still doing the same three things right.

🎸

Live country, Tue to Sat

A real band on a real stage five nights a week, with a wood dance floor that has been broken in since 1964. Come early, stay till the last song.

How a night works

Your first night at the Spoke.

4:00

Come hungry

Doors open at 4. Grab a table, order dinner, and settle in while the room fills up.

7:15

Dancehall doors

The back room opens. If you want a lesson, be there by 7:30 to sign up. Classes fill fast.

8:00

One hour with Terri White and you will know enough to survive the floor. $10 plus your cover.

9:00

The band kicks in

Live country till close. What you learned at 8, you dance at 9. That is the whole idea.

The weekly rhythm

Five nights. Every week.

The exact lineup changes week to week, so the calendar page always has the current bands. The rhythm of the week does not change.

What regulars say

Everybody's first time sticks.

★★★★★

"Took the 8 o'clock lesson knowing nothing, and by 10 I was two-stepping with strangers like I grew up here. Nowhere else in Austin does that."

Kayla · first-timer (illustrative)
★★★★★

"I bring every out-of-town guest here. Dinner, a band, a dance floor older than my parents. It is the most Texas night you can buy."

Robert · regular (illustrative)
★★★★★

"We booked the dancehall for a birthday and it felt like the whole room was in on it. You cannot rent history like this anywhere else."

Dana · private party (illustrative)

Quotes are illustrative for this concept. Est. 1964, the Texas Historical Marker, hours, and lesson details are all real.

Ask About My Date
🤠 House rule, straight from their dance page: the Cotton-Eyed Joe is the only line dance allowed on the floor.
I have never two-stepped. Will I embarrass myself?

That is exactly who the 8pm lesson is for. One hour with Terri White covers the traditional two-step plus some Western Swing, and the band right after gives you a full night to practice. Show up by 7:30 to sign up, because classes fill fast.

What nights are you open?

Tuesday through Saturday. Doors at 4pm, close at midnight Tuesday to Thursday and 1:30am Friday and Saturday. Closed Sunday and Monday. Dancehall doors open at 7:15pm.

Can I get dinner there?

Yes. The kitchen runs 4 to 10pm Tuesday through Thursday and 4 to 11pm Friday and Saturday, so dinner and a show is the standard move, not a special occasion.

How much is cover?

It varies by band and night, and it is paid at the door. Dance lessons are $10 on top of cover. Call 512-442-6189 for tonight's details.

Can I book the Spoke for a private event?

Yes, the dancehall hosts private parties and events. Call or email through the contact page to talk dates.
